A Small Cog in a Very Big Wheel, what really makes me tick

Book release 2008

From a free roaming colonial life in the wild's of East Africa Scott suddenly found himself dragged into the brutal boarding school system of the 1960s.

Here, from the age of seven, he became ostracised, the subject of ridicule and heartless teasing, in a system where the bell and the cane ruled. A special coin would change his life at the time he formed a bond with the underdog.

After eight years at boarding school he failed his Matric (Year 12) getting an "E" in English and giving up History in year 11. Scott was an academic failure and never went to University. His English teacher told his class that he would "never write a book". He joined Barclays Bank in South Africa where he worked for the next ten years. Destined to be a bank clerk for the rest of his life he struck a life changing moment when he met a young woman in Pietermaritzburg. The woman refused to date him as he was not "born again" so he joined the movement and dated her. His "conversion" nearly destroyed him mentally, but succeeded in destroying his mental comfort zone and setting him free. His mind was "born again".

After this pivotal time in his life Scott left the bank and moved to Johannesburg where he built up 3Ms Where (travel) magazine from just 16 to 48 pages in a year. At this time he was still suffering enormous mental trauma from his "born again" experience.

In 1986 Scott moved to Australia and had soon established the country's first computer based marketing company in Perth. He is totally self taught in computer programming and graphics.

A few years later, weeks after winning Microsoft's Windows application of the year, he moved to Queensland to manage Ipswich's Global Info-Links project. It was here, in 1994, that he first came across the Internet and established Australia's first web building company "Global Web Builders".

It was his interest in archiving the daily news in Queensland that led to his greatest challenge - exposing the lies, bias and deception of the Australian media. From 1997 to 1999 Scott was the Pauline Hanson One Nation web master and is recognised as making her Australia's first cyber-politician. While he has taken some hits as a result of his campaign against the mainstream media, including a political arrest in 1999, he has stuck to his guns and continues to challenge the integrity of Chris Mitchell, one of Rupert Murdoch's top guns. Mitchell personifies the key elements of why media reporting in Australia is tainted.

Scott has written nine books on a variety of subjects - all have been written without fear or favour. Despite several threats he has never been sued for defamation - those threatening have too much to lose in a courtroom where all will be exposed.

In this book you will find out what drives Scott Balson, his motivation behind his David and Goliath challenge he has faced in recent years with the media and get a brutally honest insight into his personal life - which includes failed marriages and the three special women in his life.

You will discover for yourself the deception of Chris Mitchell who set out to destroy Scott after he published "Murder by Media" in 1999. Under Mitchell Scott has been falsely slated as anti-Semitic and racist through papers he edited. In 2008 the Australian Press Council confirmed the obvious that Mitchell's claims were unfair.

There are twenty pages of photograpic plates.

The book will be released in 2008.
